Outside Interests & Activities

Farming & Wildlife

The isolated 218 acre family farm where she and her husband brought up their family since 1983 has no mains services and a diversity of habitats - woodland, upland heath, peat bog, pools, streams and wildflower meadows which support wildlife including fritillaries, sundews, otters and over eighty species of birds.

Voluntary Group Chair

Alison helped form, and is now Chairman of a local, voluntary group with over 650 members; and in that capacity works with the community, politicians, planners and developers. She initiated, and was part of a team to provide local representation at four Public Inquiries.

Partnership Development

Alison initiated and worked with others to create a partnership of landlords, letting agents and other businesses. The partnership’s aim is to support the development of a strong local economy in Aberystwyth and district, through promoting the advantages to students and others, of living in quality privately rented properties and utilising local businesses.
