Community Economic Development (CED)
in 2015 Alison was selected as one of an England wide team of CED Advisors supporting two communities; Lydney in the Forest of Dean, where she worked with the Town Council and the local community, and Tunstall in Stoke on Trent supporting the charity, Urban Vision North Staffordshire.
The programme, (run through the Community Development Foundation), supports the communities to understand the characteristics of a strong local economy so that they can agree their aspirations and aims through facilitated workshops. In small working groups, through expert technical support, along with the help of a small grant, they gain the skills and knowledge needed and gather the information required to create their Community Economic Development Plan.
The focus of the work was supporting their community to drive the process forward so that the final plan was ready for publication early in 2016; making sure that skills and confidence are increasing and that the local community takes ownership of the CED were key objectives.
