South Downs National Park Authority (SDNPA) have some important but fragmented areas of heathland which they have plans to extend and link up to create a more connected habitat.
To do this, they and a number of local partners such as the National Trust and local Wildlife Trusts are submitting a bid to HLF for a Heritage Grant under the umbrella of 'Heathlands Reunited'.
R4C was contracted to develop the Learning and Participation Plan and Monitoring and Evaluation Plan as part of this submission. This involved research to identify how to engage more people in heathlands restoration and a review of all project documentation slong with workshops, one with SDNPA staff and one with the project partners, to identify what success looked like and the key things that they would like to learn about through the evaluation process.
