Kinnerley Parish Neighbourhood Plan

In April 2012 Kinnerley Parish Council appointed Irene as Project Manager for their Neighbourhood Plan. Kinnerley is one of five ‘frontrunner’ communities in Shropshire, benefiting from funding from the Department for Communities and Local Government to pilot the development of a Neighbourhood Plan.

With our many years of experience of community-based planning under our belts, we were delighted to be able to work with the Kinnerley Parish Neighbourhood Plan group, appointed by the Parish Council. This latest approach to community led planning builds on previous community action planning, which in Kinnerley includes their comprehensive Village Design Statement.

We began by advising on the design of the household questionnaire, which was then distributed and collected by local volunteers – a key reason for the response rate of over 75%. This combined with additional local consultation activity led by the Communities sub-group created a robust evidence base for the plan itself. The R4C team supported the data collation and analysis process, provided a structure for the Plan and draft text for the Plan Group to work from.

Kinnerley’s Neighbourhood Plan was adopted by the Parish Council in February 2013, and can be seen at The next step is to submit it to Shropshire Council for full endorsement; the Planning element has already been endorsed.
