Local Food Forward Business Model for Cwm Harry Land Trust

In 2010 Resources for Change were asked by local social enterprise Cwm Harry Land Trust to help with business modelling for one of their projects. Dubbed ‘Local Food Forward’ the project is working with a group of local producers and retailers to try and strengthen the food supply chain in Montgomeryshire.

R4C researched models of good practice and developed a business model responding to choices made by local producers of the best opportunities to support local livelihoods.

The report was jointly prepared by Cwm Harry staff, R4C and Richard Pitts Associates to underpin a bid for investment in the local food supply chain. We produced a range of case studies and practical business modelling, and were able to add value by also providing some financial forecasting to accompany this work.

The feedback received from producers and retailers was positive and a good level of involvement was demonstrated by all. We look forward to watching this significant contribution to local economic and environmental development grow further in the future.
