Local Growing feasibility study for the
National Trust

In 2011 Resources for Change were commissioned by the National Trust to carry out a study looking into the feasibility of local community food production on the Vile, Rhossili.

The proposed site has been farmed using the same rotational mosaic system since medieval times, and the National Trust was keen to investigate the opportunities for development of community growing and food production, carrying this tradition forward into the 21st Century.

The client was particularly pleased with the suggestions for growing and farming included in the report, and the attention paid to the Trust’s aims to improve biodiversity and engage local people, as well as increase learning opportunities on this historic site.

We also produced an outline business plan for the Trust, demonstrating a viable model that included a range of products as well as innovative solutions to engage and benefit residents and visitors alike.
