In the summer of 2016 Cerys facilitated a session for Newtown Town Council which invited comments from local groups about their proposed asset transfer of a large piece of key green space running through the town. This land, currently in the ownership of Powys County Council will be one of the largest asset transfers in terms of land in Wales, covering over 200 acres.
The Town Council was inspired to take over this asset and work in partnership with community groups following the development of a Community Plan, supported by R4C last year. Local people in Newtown prioritised their green spaces highly, wanting to see them used more, become both accessible to all and a real asset to the town.
