Positive News Forward Strategy
In 2010 R4C were commissioned to develop a future development plan, including business plan, for this international publication pioneering ‘solution focussed journalism’.
Positive News is a print and online edition based in rural Shropshire, reporting on the people, events and influences that are creating greater wellbeing for people and planet. Running for more than 15 years, its founder Shauna Crockett-Burrows, was looking to hand over the reins; her priority being to ensure that Positive News can continue to spread good news, reaching out to increasing numbers of readers online or on paper.
A key part of R4C’s input was to design and carry out a consultation with readers, subscribers, sponsors and funders. The response was phenomenal, demonstrating the support that there is out there for the publication and its aims.
R4C were able to provide Shauna and the Positive News team with a workable, practical, and yet ambitious plan to create greater sustainability for the publication and a future direction after the retirement of its founder. We also helped to promote a better decision making process within the management team and balanced the different perspectives of the team and wider stakeholders, with the needs of the organisation.
