R4C is working with Llanwddyn Community Centre Committee to undertake a Feasibility Study into the viability of taking on a long term lease from the Local Authority, for their Grade 2 listed Community Centre.
To understand current use and potential opportunities R4C is working with the committee and several members of the community to carry out a wide engagement and consultation so that all residents and visitors have the opportunity to give their views. Validation will ensure that the views and conclusions reached match with the understanding of the community.
R4C is also advising on governance, potential funding and supporting the development of the information required to submit a grant application. Alongside this work R4C is producing a toolkit that will be available for other groups involved in or considering asset transfer, or taking on a community building under a lease agreement, outlining the steps they should undertake and some advice on how to go about it, where to get help and advice and what level of professional expertise they will need.
R4C is working to establish a viable way forward for the building to be brought up to a good standard of repair and then used and maintained into the long term.
Llanwddyn village nestles in the hills of north Montgomeryshire and access to towns is limited, with little public transport. It is close to Lake Vyrnwy and the Community Centre already holds a regular successful events throughout the year, including an annual weekend of folk and acoustic music, click here for more details .
