R4C has been commissioned by Surrey County Council to design and run a stakeholder engagement process that will enable a wide range of local people to contribute to the development of a Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) for Surrey. There is now a statutory requirement for every English county to develop and LNRS and the Defra guidance requires extensive stakeholder engagement that reaches beyond the ‘normal suspects’.

We are currently running a  series of  nine ‘outcome workshops’ spread out across the county that look to inform people about the LNRS and identify through participative processes the key outcomes for nature recovery in Surrey. Each workshop is aimed at a different audience covering community, young people, farming & forestry, other landowning interests, and people with an interest in nature connect, wellbeing and accessibility. The workshops will be facilitated by R4C and will use a range of deliberative processes to ensure that everyone’s voice is heard.

The outcome from this phase of the work is a list of desired outcomes for Nature Recovery for Surrey
