Ty Penrhos Community Survey

This was a short community consultation to support a Shared Prosperity Fund application and followed on from a wide-ranging Community Needs Survey that we had undertaken for the group a couple of years earlier that had identified the importance of keeping local services and businesses such as the Post Office in the village.

Ty Penrhos is located in the centre of the village and hosted the Post Office and Shop, a mechanics Garage, a two-bedroom flat, and office space.  When the current owner put the property on the market local residents were worried that if it was bought by a developer, it could be changed into a holiday home or flats and the local businesses would be lost.

In order to secure the asset for future generations a not-for-profit company called ‘Aberdyfi Community Projects Ltd’ was established to try and buy the property and manage it for the benefit of the community.

This survey was commissioned to consult with local residents and stakeholders about the proposed project and gauge local support.  It also collected the community’s thoughts and suggestions to help shape the project going forward.

A bilingual survey was published online and publicised and promoted via a press release from the group, social media posts, and the village newsletter.  Over two weeks we engaged 228 individuals and gathered their thoughts and feedback on the local support for the project, the importance of the services and the likely impact if they were lost, suggestions for future developments, and interest in supporting the project and purchasing community shares.

The response was overwhelmingly positive, and the findings were used to evidence a business plan for the development to support fundraising efforts and guide the work going forward.  The group were subsequently successful with a grant application to the Shared Prosperity Fund which enabled them to purchase the building for the community and is the latest in a series of projects that have come directly from our original Community Needs Survey. We look forward to hearing what the next project will be from this very proactive group of volunteers!!

Roedd hwn yn ymgynghoriad cymunedol byr i gefnogi cais Cronfa Ffyniant Gyffredin ac yn deillio o Arolwg Anghenion Cymunedol eang a gynhaliwyd gennym ar gyfer y grŵp ychydig flynyddoedd ynghynt a oedd wedi nodi pwysigrwydd cadw gwasanaethau a busnesau lleol fel y Swyddfa Bost yn y pentref.

Mae Tŷ Penrhos wedi’i leoli yng nghanol Aberdyfi ac yn gartref i Swyddfa’r Post a’r Siop, Garej Mecaneg, fflat dwy ystafell wely, a gofod swyddfa. Pan roddodd y perchennog presennol yr eiddo ar y farchnad roedd trigolion lleol yn poeni pe bai’n cael ei brynu gan ddatblygwr, y gellid ei newid yn dai haf neu’n fflatiau ac y byddai’r busnesau lleol yn cael eu colli.

Er mwyn sicrhau’r ased ar gyfer cenedlaethau’r dyfodol sefydlwyd cwmni di-elw o’r enw ‘Aberdyfi Community Projects Ltd’ i geisio prynu’r eiddo a’i reoli er lles y gymuned.

Comisiynwyd yr arolwg hwn i ymgynghori â thrigolion lleol a rhanddeiliaid am y prosiect arfaethedig ac i fesur cefnogaeth leol. Hefyd casglwyd syniadau ac awgrymiadau’r gymuned i helpu i siapio’r prosiect wrth symud ymlaen.

Cyhoeddwyd arolwg dwyieithog ar-lein a chafodd ei hysbysebu a’i hyrwyddo trwy ddatganiad i’r wasg gan y grŵp, negeseuon cyfryngau cymdeithasol, a chylchlythyr y pentref. Dros bythefnos fe wnaethom ymgysylltu â 228 o unigolion a chasglu eu barn a’u hadborth ar y gefnogaeth leol i’r prosiect, pwysigrwydd y gwasanaethau a’r effaith debygol pe baent yn cael eu colli, awgrymiadau ar gyfer datblygiadau yn y dyfodol, a diddordeb mewn cefnogi’r prosiect a phrynu cyfranddaliadau cymunedol. .

Roedd yr ymateb yn hynod gadarnhaol, a defnyddiwyd y canfyddiadau i lunio cynllun busnes ar gyfer y datblygiad i gefnogi ymdrechion codi arian ac arwain y gwaith wrth symud ymlaen. Bu’r grŵp yn llwyddiannus gyda chais am grant i’r Gronfa Ffyniant Gyffredin a’u galluogodd i brynu’r adeilad ar gyfer y gymuned a dyma’r diweddaraf mewn cyfres o brosiectau sydd wedi dod yn uniongyrchol o’n Harolwg Anghenion Cymunedol gwreiddiol. Edrychwn ymlaen at glywed beth yw y prosiect nesaf sydd gan y criw ar y gweill!
