Introduction

Claire is skilled in strategic and business planning, business development, income generation and strategic project management. A Member of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising since 2017, she is passionate about partnership working, with a particular interest in developing and securing funding for large, multi-stakeholder projects. A versatile member of the team, she has a natural flair for marketing and communications, and adds expertise in planning and performance management gained from a decade spent as a senior manager in the National Health Service.

  • New project/business development – developing and writing complex funding bids, including National Lottery Heritage Fund and statutory/trust and foundations funding
  • Strategic partnership development – working collaboratively to maximise impact
  • Project management – managing multiple projects/project teams, setting objectives, developing and managing delivery, financial management, monitoring and evaluation, funder reporting
  • Business planning – developing organisational business and management plans, stakeholder engagement
  • Strategic communications and marketing – developing and implementing communications and engagement strategies
  • Operations and team management – including developing and implementing operational policies.

Career highlights

Claire’s career has spanned a range of senior leadership positions across the not-for-profit sector, including conservation and environmental, health and social care, higher education and the arts.  After ten years in commissioning, planning and performance management in the National Health Service in the North East of England, she transitioned to development and major fundraising at the University of Durham.  She relocated to Oxfordshire in 2017 to take up a new challenge –  income generation and business development for the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – one of the largest AONBs in the country, picking up postgraduate qualifications in marketing and becoming an accredited fundraiser along the way.

In her spare time she is a keen runner and road cyclist, a mediocre swimmer, and enjoys spending as much time as possible in the great outdoors.
